There's a reason I got you to save your selection... You can go ahead and hide the layer you thought you were finished with and select the base layer.
Now press: Select -> Load Selection and then select your saved selection.
This will bring up your old selection - "But what else could we do?", you're thinking.
Giving the entire selection a blur is decent, but to me, it seems like it looses a LOT of detail for instance on the mask and torso area. There is a way to avoid this, however.
With your current selection, hold down the Alt button and select the areas you don't want getting blurred - In this case follow the picture.
As you can see, I've left some key areas out. To fine tune slightly more, go ahead and feather the selection: This dulls out the edges of your selection.
Alt + Ctrl + D then select 3 pixels.
Now as before, copy and paste the layer on top of the original and make sure they line up. Then add your desired amount of motion blur.
There you have it! :)
Here is my final version using what you've just learned.
